{Michelle Cross Photography}

I had the pleasure of meeting Michelle at a wedding last summer at the beautiful Rock Springs Ranch , and I instantly liked her. She was calm and peaceful against the backdrop of all the excited anxiousness of the day,  and she somehow had the ability to appear to be everywhere at once. There are so many moments (and photo opportunities) that happen during a wedding, and I will never understand how a photographer can capture them all. Just take a look at this gallery of pictures from that particular day, and you will see that she was in fact everywhere and caught every beautiful moment. {http://michellecrossblog.com/2012/10/jared-heidi/}

Michelle says she is a ‘fine art photographer’, and I would add that she is a specialist in all things photography. In truth, I’ve spent the better part of a year anxiously waiting the next photo session she will post (it’s an obsession, I know), and I’ve loved every sneak peek!  Her photos are full of life and seem to capture not just the moment, but the heart and soul of her subjects. Everything from family sessions, engagements, destination weddings, senior portraits, rehearsal dinners – you name it, she’s captured it. You can preview all of those events on her blog {www.michellecrossblog.com} and I promise you too will be hooked and eagerly waiting to see what she posts next!

When I asked her to tell me a little bit about what makes her unique as owner/photographer for Michelle Cross Photography, she said “I’m a fine art wedding photographer , which means I feature both timeless and classic images. I feel blessed to be able to travel the country documenting my gorgeous brides and grooms!”    Her images speak for themselves as do the moments she’s able to capture.  Photographing  Oregon to New York to Thailand,     {http://michellecrossblog.com/2012/12/a-quick-trip-to-thailand/}  Michelle has made a beautiful impression with her work all over the world.

Her work has been featured on many other publications, blogs and websites. Here are just a few that showcase her talent ~

Wedding vendors all have that moment that reminds them why they love what they do. For Michelle, that moment happens when the the bride and groom photos begin. “Portrait time isn’t so much about taking pictures (though they’ll happen naturally) as it is about those 30-45 minutes when the bride and groom can finally be themselves, together. It’s about savoring those moments and just being – without the crazy wonderful chaos that is the wedding day. It’s an emotional time and I love getting to be a small part of it.”

As we talked about what makes a truely beautiful event, Michelle had some excellent advice for newly engaged couples.  “When you first get engaged, sit down and really try to visualize your big day. Think about what you’re feeling and who you’re sitting beside. Picture what your guests are doing and listen to the music playing in the background. And then hold tight to this vision. As the months of wedding planning begin, try not to become overwhelmed with physical details that don’t hold a significant meaning. Your wedding is about you and the ones you love. And when the day is over what’s important is that you began your life together surrounded by those who mean the most.”

Michelle is an adventurous spirit who loves to travel.  I asked her if she had a favorite place, and her answer was perfect ~ “Anywhere I’ve never been!”

“Someday – be it when I’m ninety – I’d love to write a book. Even if my husband and my pup are the only ones who read it!’

Michelle, write that book and fill it full of your pictures, because I’m sure there are a lot of us who will read it!  Thank you for not only giving me the opportunity to interview you, but to also have been given the honor of getting to know you through your work.  You are a true blessing to all those who meet you ~ and I’m one of the fortunate who can say I’ve had that pleasure. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go see if you’ve posted any new photos…  ~Bethany
